Training Now Available!

Now the place that your dogs love to play can also be the place where they learn everything they need to know to be the best dog in the world! That’s right, At Play with Sparky is now offering training.

Our on-staff trainer is available for all facets of training, from puppy skills to one-on-one intensive bad habit correcting. Two programs we’re excited to announce are train-while-you-play and train-while-you-stay. These private training programs allow your dog to work on specific skills while they are attending daycare or while they are boarding. You will get a private consultation before and after the program, including a helpful take-home packet of information tailored to your dog’s specific needs. These programs are available to any number of daycare sessions and for one- and two-week boarding stays.

Private sessions are also available for on-location training at your home or other problem location (work, dog park, pet store, etc). We will zero in on your dog’s specific issues and approach them in the locations where they have the most trouble. Common in-home training issues are barking, jumping on visits, territoriality, and food guarding. But our trainer can help with most any situation!

Finally, we are excited to offer training classes for all levels right here at Sparky’s! Throughout the year, we will have puppy classes, novice (or beginner) classes, intermediate classes, and even an advanced class for those star pupils who just can’t stop learning. Most classes will be taught in the evenings and will run for seven weeks. The first class will be all about getting to know one another, determining the needs of the students, and fun! And the first class is free (with full payment for the other six classes)!

Our first puppy class starts Monday, Oct 10^th at 7:15pm. This class is perfect for all puppies under one year who face basic puppy issues such as mouthing, potty training, basic obedience, and socialization. Starting Tuesday, Oct 11^th at 7:15pm, we will offer a combination novice/intermediate class. This class will be a mix of basic obedience and any specific issues the participants need to address. All of our classes are tailored to the needs of our current students.

Eight years ago today..... At Play with Sparky opened it's doors to the dogs of Asheville. Today, we want to thank each and every paw that has crossed our threshold and clawed their way into our hearts. We are so blessed to spend our days loving on your pups.

Many of you may be hearing murmurings of a possible location change. Please know that as soon as we know something definite, you will know too. It is very likely that we will move within the next 10-12 months, but I promise we will stay close by and our new facility will be bigger and better! We're excited about this new opportunity and our ultimate goal is to provide the best possible experience for you and your dogs!

June Playmate of the Month

Sparky: Well, folks, we're managing to announce our June Playmate of the Month before the month is half over. Be very proud.

Denver: This month's honoree was chosen especially in this hot summer month because of her intense appreciation of water. And everyone knows we have serious water fun at Sparky's when it's hot outside.

Sparky: So without further ado, our Playmate for June is...

Tela!!!

Tela Thingvoll is a 4.5 yr old Labradoodle. Obviously, she gets her affinity for water from both sides of the family. Tela's been playing at Sparky's for over two years, and she always brings the fun. While she loves to play with the water (be it sprayed with the hose, romping in the pool, or dunking her head in the water bucket), she makes her own fun in the wintertime too. Snow is just frozen water, after all!

So, head on over to Sparky's this summer and witness Tela's water aerobics for yourself!

Playmate of the Month for May

Sparky: Sorry for the delay, folks. We've been dealing with some technical difficulties. As in, technically, we're slackers when it comes to blogging.
Denver: But it definitely isn't a reflection on how cool our May Playmate of the Month is. Drumroll, please....

Hudson!!

Hudson is a 2 1/2 year old black lab who has been coming to Sparky's for about two years now. This fella is about as much fun as you can get. Just add water. As would be expected, Hudson loves to play in the water, be it a fun spray down with the hose or plowing through a pile of snow. Mucky weather doesn't stop him from having a good time.

Now that summer's here, you'll find Hudson romping in the pool and attacking the hose. So, come join him in the fun!

April Playmate of the Month

Scully Ikelheimer is Playmate of the Month for April. And I'm not foolin'!

She'd just like to know why it took us so long to realize how cool she is.

Well Scully, the truth is we've known for a while now. After all, you are queen of the yard.

Here she is surveying her territory... Or maybe just looking for another friend to chase.

Scully is a 2 1/2 year old wolfhound mix. She's scruffy, tall, and always up for fun. At home, she plays with her (human) kids, but at Sparky's she lets loose and it's all about the dogs. Her hobbies include barreling down the ramp at full speed, leaping over other dogs in a single bound, and storing extra water in her beard (yes, she is the bearded lady) to share with the next person she decides to kiss.

All of us here at Sparky's appreciate Scully's boundless energy and easy-going disposition. She's the perfect candidate for our highest honor: Playmate of the Month. Congrats Scully!

Sparky turns eight tomorrow! Strangers who meet him can't believe he's a "senior" dog. I explain that it's because he gets to go play whenever he wants. (There are definite benefits to owning a doggie daycare - lifetime membership!)

We are very excited to introduce our Playmate of the Month for March 2011.

Meet Olivia!

Many of you will recall seeing Olivia hanging in the office as a tiny pup, when she first started coming to Sparky's last fall. She was a mere 10 weeks old when she bounced into our hearts.

She was happy to get extra lovin' from our staff and customers in the office, or as she got a little bigger, romp in the yard with the many friends she quickly made.

She may be little, but this gal is tough! Like the day she went at a full run to knock her playmate, Gretchen, a Rottie puppy twice her size, right out of the sandbox and then tackle her.

As we've watched Olivia grow in size, we've also watched her mature into a happy, well-adjusted dog. She exemplifies all of the characteristics of a Playmate of the Month here at Sparky's. She gets along with everyone, will play with anyone who is willing, listens well & is the cutest darn thing to romp into our lives. We look forward to Olivia playing at Sparky's for many years to come!

Need a Dinner Idea Tonight?

It's been a long day, and no one wants to go home and cook. So, after you pick up your furry friend from daycare today, get him/her settled at home and then head out to one of our local restaurants supporting animal rescue through the Dine To Be Kind event happening today!

Dine To Be Kind benefits Animal Compassion Network, which has been rehoming cats and dogs in our community since 1997. All you have to do is eat at one of the participating restaurants, and a portion of the proceeds will go straight to ACN.

To do our part, we treated our staff to lunch from Mellow Mushroom today. We supported a local restaurant, thanked our employees for a job well done, AND helped an organization whose focus is helping pets here in Western North Carolina. Now that makes our tails wag!

Buddy Black Brinton - BBB - The Triple Threat

Buddy always has a smile on his face and a wag to his tail...

He tells it like it is... (Listen up, Honeybee!)

He lends a paw to the up-and-comers... (First you put your front paws up. Try it, Tomato!)

And keeps his positive attitude even when he pulls a long shift at daycare! (Mom and Dad work long hours, and so do I!)

This one and a half year old mix is a happy fella with tons of friends. Buddy is always available for a romp, a jump, or just a lick. He's definitely earned his spot as playmate of the month!

        We thought we would start this year off with a classic: Ginger has been a fixture at Sparky's since puppy-hood. While she has owned the title Playmate of our Hearts the entire time, it's about time that we make it official! In fact, we were so sure that Ginger had already been recognized as Playmate of the Month, we passed her over all the months before now. Let's be clear that this is our mistake, and not Ginger's.
       Ginger is consistently having the best day of her life, and is not afraid to express her joie de vivre. She is non-discriminate and will play with people and other dogs equally. She greets all our yard staff by putting her mouth on whatever she can reach.
        She enjoys having her picture taken and loves barking at pedestrians.

Ginger, we salute you.

Snow Day Redux - Tuesday

Well, pups, the roads are supposed to be even worse tomorrow morning than they were today. So we will once again open around 8am and may need to close early (before dark). If you can stay home in your nice warm beds, it would be for the best, but if you simply must come play, give us a call. We'll try to accommodate you while keeping our staff safe.

UPDATE 8am: One staff member has arrived to take care of the boarding dogs. We will be closing before dark tonight, so please do not bring your dog in for daycare unless you can pick them up before 5pm. If you would like to board your dog tonight, also have him/her here before 5pm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

With many inches of snow and no end in sight, travel around Asheville will be extremely dangerous today. In order to keep our staff safe, we will have very limited hours today. If you need to drop off or pick up your dog, please give us a call to arrange a time. We will only be available during daylight hours. Sorry for the inconvenience, but safety is our top priority.

For the last Playmate of the Month of 2010 we had to go with a classic dog who is truly part of our family -- Miss Madison, a 18 month old black lab whose favorite fashion accessory is a stick.
We have watched Madison grow up from a rolly-polly puppy to a voluptuous young-lady who is always in the mood for a game of chase. She even gets the lazy dogs on their all-fours and moving around the yard. What more is there to say? She is a hallmark in our lives. It also doesn't hurt that she is deliciously cute, no one can keep their paws off her. Here at At Play with Sparky, black is always in season.

Cold Noses

Just because the temperatures are dropping doesn't mean your dog can't play! We take special steps to make sure everyone has a fun and comfortable playtime like creating indoor playgroups and giving chilly (chili) dogs more indoor breaks. For boarding dogs we turn on the heaters and toast marshmallows while telling spooky stories. They've got to put those fur coats to practical use!

Where's the Turkey?!

We are having the extended, four-footed family over for Thanksgiving! Bring your dog over to play on Turkey Day and join in the celebration (bring your own turkey). We will be accepting visitors from 8am-10am and 5pm-7pm; otherwise we will be actively giving thanks for tennis balls and bones.

Did you know… we also board cats! We currently have two boarders of the feline persuasion. So if you are leaving town for the holidays, bring the whole family over! We have tended to chickens, ferrets, snakes, pretty much any small animal, but please no opinionated uncles or grumpy grandpas, not after last year….

Quirky says in Soviet Russia cats eat you for Thanksgiving dinner.

Shadow says it’s all turkey to me.

Sparky: Dawgs, we are totally regretful that the blog has been silent for so many months.

Denver: It has been a crazy fall, for sure.

S: Sparky's has undergone some major staffing changes. We have so many new people friends to play with!

D: But getting all the new office staff trained has really taken away from our computer time. My Spider Solitaire game (and blogging, of course) has completely suffered.

S: But, we're here to let everyone know that we're back! The busy holiday season is upon us, but we promise to make time to jump on-line and keep you guys in the loop.

D: And after the holidays, we'll be profiling all the new staff members, so that you guys can get the lowdown on our new peeps.

June is Adopt-a-Cat Month!

According to the American Humane Association, of the approximately 4 million cats and kittens brought to shelters, 71% are euthanized. That's 15% higher than the number of dogs. Early summer is a particularly hard time because it's mid-kitten season when every shelter is inundated with litters, sometime several in a single day. The thought of mothers with their kittens being euthanized for lack of space is so sad. Because of this, June has been dubbed Adopt-a-Cat Month to raise awareness and help more cats find their forever homes!

In celebration, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue will be holding a "Purrfect Together" special adoption weekend on June 26th and 27th from noon-4pm at PetSmart in Asheville. Foster moms will be on hand to help adopters find their perfect match, whether they are first time kitty owners or have other cats, dogs, or children. Because the best friend for a kitten is another, we're offering two at $150 (a $50 savings) over the two-day adoption event. In addition to helping these little guys find their homes we've reduced adoption fees to $50 for older cats, who tend to be overlooked during kitten season.

We have every age, color, and size of fabulous feline available, including a sweet 5 year old 'panther' named Zen, a stunning longhaired black and white boy named Salt & Pepper, a big orange Manx called Mr. Bojangles, and two of the prettiest kittens you've ever seen - tortoishell sisters Stingray and Reef. Stop by to meet some of our wonderful cats and kittens and pick up some sweets at the bake sale!

Our volunteers from Brother Wolf Animal Rescue and Animal Compassion Network are donating their time and skills to make this event a success. Please show up with a light heart attitude, and remember your dog doesn't mind because it will grow back!!!

and you can drop them off at Greenlife Grocery or at Pet Harmony which is located at 803 Fairview Street.

Can't bring your dog? Try saving any fur you may have when brushing them! Bring fur and a pair of nylons on and help make a difference!

Despite what you may have read or heard on the news, Matter of Trust is in full swing with new flotation devices being tested around the clock!

So come on Asheville, bring your nylon donations to Greenlife, and bring you doggies on the 26th and lets help clean this mess up. It is obvious that BP will not clean this thing up, so now it is up to us!

We will be taking collected fur/hair and nylons to an off-site location and using them to make natural booms. Check out the videos below to get a better understanding of how this amazingly simple technology works!

Be Kind to Animals Week

May 2 to 8 is a week that has been celebrated every year since 1915. It's Be Kind to Animals Week. In this week, we focus on the role animals play in our lives, and spread awareness about how to continue to treat them humanely. Be Kind to Animals Week is only celebrated once a year, but here are many ways you can be kind throughout the year:

Speak out for animals

Get informed about policies and legislation that can impact the animals in your community and throughout the country. Advocacy for animals can make a huge difference in their safety and well-being.

Report animal abuse

Animal cruelty and abuse is not only tragic for animals, but also an indicator that other forms of abuse such as domestic violence could be happening. If you see something that looks suspicious -- a dog chained in your neighbor’s yard that looks underfed, a child putting a cat in a box and kicking it around the yard -- don’t hesitate.

Appreciate wildlife

All animals deserve to be treated humanly -- family pets and animals in the wild. Create an inviting space in your yard and garden for butterflies, hummingbirds and other creatures. If wildlife comes too close to home, look for ways to coexist with animals or to protect your property humanely.

Adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue

Every year, an estimated 3.7 million animals must be euthanized at our nation’s shelters because they could not be adopted into loving homes. Help animals find a second chance at happiness by adopting your next pet from your local shelter or rescue group.

Take care of your pet

Brother Wolf was initially formed in the fall of 2006 by a small group of volunteers and later incorporated in the spring of 2007. Since then, we have saved the lives of over 1000 dogs! In early 2009, our cat friends joined us, and in June of 2009, we became a licensed shelter.

We are also working closely with Buncombe County, and other animal rescue groups, in a program called "Save a Life" Campaign, whose goal is to end the euthanization of healthy adoptable companion animals in Buncombe County by the Year 2012.

A old country man went out for breakfast with his friends every morning. Each time he came back from breakfast, his hound dog always went crazy with excitement, jumping up and down, barking, and howling. One morning when he returned, his dog was just laying there. He knudged him, exclaiming his arrival. His dog just wouldn't get up. He decided he should take him to the vet. When he got there, he told the Dr. his situation, and asked him to figure out what was wrong. After a series of tests, the Dr. said, "I'm sorry, Sir, but your dog is dead." The old country man was in despair. "Oh no, Doc, that can't be! My dog's my best friend! Can't you do anything else? Check again!" And so he did. "Sir, I'm sure. Your dog is dead." The man was beside himself. "No, no, no. This can't be happening. Is there anything else you can do?" The vet said, there is one more thing. He left the room and returned with a cat. He set the cat down on the table, and it circled the dog a few times. The Dr. said, "I'm absolutely sure, Sir. I'm sorry. The Receptionist will settle your bill with you on the way out." The man was in shock. "Settle the bill? But my dog is dead. How much is the bill?" The Dr. explained "Well, Sir, it's $225." The man about had a heart attack. "$225?! For what?!" He shouted. The Dr said "It was $25 for the office exam, and $200 for the cat scan."

Hahahahahahaah. No actual dogs were harmed during this joke. :D

Camp Unleashed Spring 2010

Camp Unleashed is a sleep-over camp experience in nature for dogs and their people. We started five years ago in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, and will be holding their first camp in the mountains of western North Carolina, about 30 minutes east of Asheville, September 23-26.

We offer a variety of dog-centered activities with professionally trained experts in a safe, beautiful children's camp (Camp Blue Star, Flat Rock) set on 500 acres of woodland. Our focus is on holistic health, respect of canine nature, and deepening our kinship with dogs through hiking, and various activities such as agility, flyball, and freestyle.

A Year in Review

Sparky: We'd like to take this time to say Happy New Years!

Denver: And we'd also like to thank all of you for your continued support.

S: It certainly has been one heck of a year. Let's recap on some things that have happened!

D: Remember in January when our pad froze over and we all thought it was so hilarious to run and slide around on it?

S: And February brought Charlie, an employee adoption, to us!

D: Then came March, when Hickory was a stray who found her way to Sparky's, and we found her a home.*

S: In April, co-owner Russ was doing a lot of upgrades for us! Here's a funny shot of the lengths he went to do it.

D: Besides the fun of two employee birthdays in May, this was also the month that co-owner Russ's bird, Kinky climbed to the top of some tall foliage and it was a hilarious time trying to get him down. Thankfully, Russ is pretty good at climbing trees!

S: In June we did a lot of "water sports". Tee hee.

D: July brought great usage of the playground equipment.

S: We were still doing "water sports" *ah hem* in August...

D: The gang was feeling a bit more academic in September, and decided to take some time out from playing, to read a loud to one another for a bit. Although, there did seem to be some confusion about who was supposed to be doing the reading.

S: October is really nice because...hey, wait...how'd that great picture of me get in there? *looks around suspiciously*

D: Ha-ha. That was smooth, Sparks. November looks like fun times were had in the play equipment, too.

S: And wrapping up last year with December, was of course, THE SNOWPOCALYPSE!

S & D: Here's to a new and exciting 2010!

Tuesday, December 22 - An employee has made it in, and we are open at our regularly scheduled time of 6:30 am. Thank you!

Tuesday, December 22nd, we will be opening at 8:00 am due to ice on the roads in the early morning. We are planning on closing at the regular scheduled time of 7:30 pm. Thanks for your understanding.

Due to black ice, we are now shooting to open at 9 am. Please check back for updates.

Sparky: It sure is crazy out there!

Denver: Yes it is. Please be careful if you're out braving the roads.

S: To keep our staff as safe as possible, we will be closing early tonight (Sunday 12/20) at 5:30 pm.

D: We will be opening tomorrow (Monday 12/21) at 8:00 am and closing again at 5:30 pm.

S: Sorry for the inconvenience, but we hope you understand.

Food Drive

Sparky: We've got a lot going on this month, folks.

Denver: We sure do. I'll go ahead and get to the first order of business. We'd like to congratulate our December Playmate of the Month, Kali Kareken!

S: Kali just turned 7 months old yesterday! Happy Birthday, Kali! She's a Shepard mix and has been playing with us since she was just 3 months old.

D: It didn't take her any time to figure out that Sparky's was a place for fun!

S: Next on the list of things to be excited about, is our Holiday Special! It's 20 days for $260! That's only $13/day!

D: It would make a great gift for your dog, or a friend/family member's dog for Christmas! Remember, our packages never expire, and they do not have to be used consecutively!

Sparky: We've got a big event coming up, fellow friends.

S: It's called Mutt Strut. Tara & Shannon will be setting up a Sparky's table at the event.

D: Let's tell everyone what exactly Mutt Strut is, Sparks.

S: Okay, Mutt Strut, the Asheville Humane Society's biggest fundraiser of the year, is coming up Oct. 10. Celebrate the pets in your life at this event set for 8:30 a.m.-noon at Carrier Park on Amboy Road.

D: Registered participants can create their own Web page to solicit sponsors and join the festivities at the event: a dog walk, fun contests, entertainment, demos, vendor booths and other activities. Build a team or walk as an individual, with or without your pets.

S: Animals from AHS will be attending Mutt Strut and can be adopted at the event.

D: An adult strutter (18 and older) is $25. A junior strutter (10-17) is $10.

S: The first 400 people registered online will receive an official Mutt Strut t-shirt.

Denver: Can you believe it's been a whole 6 years already, Sparks?

D: Hey now, don't be rubbing it in. I have a Spa in my name, you know.

D: I'm special too. I don't see the Yellow Pages people calling about your name.

S: Sis, no one is going to understand that joke except us, and the office people. Anyways, 6 years is another fabulous milestone for us, so we of course must celebrate appropriately!

Happy Independence Day!

Sparky: While we are all for celebrating Independance Day, you have to understand something about us furry folk.

Denver: We typically are fearful of loud noises. While some of us don't mind, you'd be surprised at how many of us do.

S: And sometimes, it can frighten us even if it never has before.

D: I read a sad story on the Humane Society of the United States website about a dog who was only home alone for 4 hours while her family was out watching fireworks.

S: Oh yeah? What happened?

D: She had an accident on the living room floor, managed to open the sliding glass door, dug a hole under the fence, and escaped.

S: Did they find her?

D: They did, but unfortunately she was fearful and looking for her owners and was hit by a car on a road she was often walked on.

S: How terrible! You have to remember that even if a dog isn't normally afraid of thunder or other loud noises, they can panic from the cumulative effects of the fireworks, the excited voices outside, and being left alone inside the house.

D: The website said that animal shelters across the country are accustomed to receiving "July 4th" dogs—dogs who run off during fireworks celebrations and are rescued by animal control officers or good samaritans who take them to the safety of a local shelter.

S: It's sad, but true. Here are some tips to keeping your dog safe on Independance Day!

- Resist the urge to take your pet to fireworks displays.

- Do not leave your pet in the car. With only hot air to breathe inside a car, your pet can suffer serious health effects—even death—in a few short minutes. Partially opened windows do not provide sufficient air, but they do provide an opportunity for your pet to be stolen.

- Keep your pets indoors at home in a sheltered, quiet area. Some animals can become destructive when frightened, so be sure that you've removed any items that your pet could destroy or that would be harmful to your pet if chewed. Leave a television or radio playing at normal volume to keep him company while you're attending Fourth of July picnics, parades, and other celebrations.

- If you know that your pet is seriously distressed by loud noises like thunder, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th for ways to help alleviate the fear and anxiety he or she will experience during fireworks displays.

- Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. In their fear, pets who normally wouldn't leave the yard may escape and become lost, or become entangled in their chain, risking injury or death.

- Make sure your pets are wearing identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly. Animals found running at-large should be taken to the local animal shelter, where they will have the best chance of being reunited with their owners.

D: Great tips, Sparks! And if you sincerely want your pooch to be part of your Independance Day celebrations, take them somewhere during the day time like a picnic or backyard BBQ where it's stress and fireworks free!

Denver:I hear ya, Sparks. As soon as summer hits, it's hard to keep up with this blog.

S: No kidding. It's been a animal house here at At Play With Sparky. New dogs are gracing the yards left and right and we couldn't be happier!

D: Exactly, the more the merrier!

S: So I've noticed a lot of people talking about how nice it is that their dog is so tired when they come home from a day of play care.

D: Oh yes, that seems to be the case for everyone. If you're wondering why your dog is so sleepy when you pick them up, I think we may have an answer for you.

Paws On Parade

Sparky & Denver: Hiya, Everyone!

S: Today's topic is the Paws On Parade Annual Walk-A-Thon at River Walk.

D: Paws With A Purpose is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization of dedicated volunteers and their pets who provide Animal-Assisted Activities (AAA) and Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) services to individuals of all ages with physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs in healthcare facilities and educational programs.

S: That was a mouthful, Sis.

D: And there's more where that came from! We're calling all dogs, dog-lovers, families and friends to walk, run, roll or stroll in support of the Paws With A Purpose Pet Therapy Program.

Memorial Day

Sparky: We'd like to take a moment to remember the brave men and women who have lost their lives serving the United States of America.

Denver: Then, take a moment to honor the dogs who serve the country, too.

S: One might ask what dogs have to do with Memorial Day.

D: The answer is simple. Memorial Day is a day to also acknowledge the hard working canines that are our country's military working dogs. You can read about them here.

S: There's also the dogs that help those who have served our country.

D: Consider the Dog Tags program, which places trained service dogs with injured veterans. These dogs are doing their part to honor the injured soldiers returning from military service by helping them get accustomed to civilian life again, despite disabilities.

S: Remember why we observe Memorial Day and thank a veteran or a service dog!

D: Okay, that's fair. Speaking of great weather, I was surfing the internet this morning and found some pretty funny photos of our four legged counterparts enjoying the sun.

S: Those are some great pictures. I could totally see myself surfing like those other 2 guys.

D: Yeah, it proves that dogs really do have more fun in the sun! (Even those big coated Husky's lounging in a row)

You were taken from us way too soon, and it's hard to believe you aren't here anymore. But, we know that you are happy in Doggy Heaven sprawled on your back basking in the sunlight. Maizy, we will never forget you. You always have a place in our hearts.

Playmate Of The Month!

Sparky: Now that the Best of Sparky's Awards are wrapped up, we're moving back into our regular scheduled Playmate of the Month.

Denver: Whoo hoo! Who do we have this month?

S: This month we have the ever so sweet Sadie Silver! She's a smidge over a year old, and has one of the biggest canine hearts.

D: Aw. Sadie is so sweet, she definitely deserves it. She is such a doll.

S: I heard a couple of the crew here from Sparky's went to her 1st birthday party and had a blast!

D: Oh, that's right! Tokyo & Thai said they went, and Shannon (you know, our crazy office girl) took lots of cute and adorable pictures that would be perfect to put on this blog, but her computer crashed and had to be sent in to be fixed.

S: Oh nooo, so all of the pictures are gone?

D: Unfortunately, yes. They replaced the hard drive so everything she had on that computer is gone.

S: Man, doesn't Shannon have the best luck?

D: Oh yes. Now let's get on to celebrating our Playmate of the Month, Sadie!

Last but most certainly not least, we have miss Roxy Nixon for Biggest Flirt. Roxy doesn't really spend her time hanging out with the other ladies. She likes to bark it up with the guys, and she really prefers Sparky. That a girl, Roxy. You know how to choose them!

Today's Showcase Winners are Mushy Higgins and Signe Lauritsen for Best Disguises.

Mushy is one of the most well behaved dogs with the biggest of hearts. This is why she wins the prize for Most Intimidating Disguise. Don't be fooled by her tough looking exterior, it's what's inside that counts! (But looking tough doesn't mean she isn't pretty!)

Our tiny pal Signe is quite the opposite! She wins the prize for Sweetest Disguise.
